We live our lives, and we make our way

Our lot is cast in the sand and clay

A million lives, many miles away

But in the fracas, we forgot to pay

It’s in a child’s simple scrawl

A chance to live and to see it all

She’s out of sight, not out of mind

Do we share in the shame of the silent kind?

The world once looked upon us all in awe

Now they wonder what the hell went wrong

Are we sanctioning the final act?

Do we kill them when we turn our backs?

It’s in a child’s simple scrawl

A chance to live and to see it all

He’s out of sight, not out of mind

Do we share in the shame of the silent kind?

Our leader stood upon the broken walls

Sent the message he’d resolve it all

We’ve been taken, sold on down the halls

We need to change it ‘fore the final call

It’s in a child’s simple scrawl

A chance to live and to see it all

They’re out of sight, not out of mind

Do we share in the shame of the silent kind?

Of the silent kind?

Of the silent kind?

Mmm-mm
